Baker & Pannatoni sentenced to chair

George Washington Baker and Paulino Panatoni today were sentenced to the electric chair by Common Pleas Judge Thomas for murder of A. Hubman, a grocer, while attempting to rob him. Friday, September 13 was set as the date of electrocution. The prisoners pleaded guilty to a first degree murder charge.

 

For the first time in the history of the Ohio penitentiary three men may be electrocuted on the same night, it became known today when the murderers of a Portsmouth grocer are electrocuted on Sept. 13. Two of the murderers are now in the death chamber at the prison and another man implicated in the case has not yet been convicted. Five murderers awaiting death at the penitentiary, the largest number in 10 years.
