Confession, Trial and Sentence of Athens County Man Covers Eighteen Hours
Portsmouth. O May 24---Within 18 hours after he had been captured in Athens county by Scioto county officials, Carl Davis had confessed to murder, was arranged pleaded guilty and heard sentence of life passed by the trial judge. On the night April 9, Mr and Mrs. Frank Lair, an aged couple who lived near Tick Ridge this county were beaten by two masked men and robbed of $120 suspicion pointed to Carl and Wallace Davis brothers. A few weeks later Wallace was arrested, pleaded guilty to burglary and was given a life sentence.
