PORTSMOUTH, O. (UPI) - Hearing on the first degree murder charge against Dr. Charles A. Stockham, 35, a chiropractor, charged with strangling his mother, was scheduled for Wednesday in municipal court here.

Stockham won continuance of the hearing Monday so he could get a lawyer.

Police said Stockham strangled his mother, Mrs. James Stockham, 65, Saturday night at the family home near Slocum Station, eight miles northeast of here.  The slaying followed an argument between the two over Mrs. Stockham having her husband committed to the Portsmouth Recieving Hospital as a mental patient.
