Jarred O. Hughes

Portsmouth, O., Oct. 6.-- Among the indictments returned by the grand jury were two for murder in the first degree against Jarred O. Hughes, who shot and killed his wife, Flora Hughes, and John Harr, at a prominent street corner. Sheriff Ketter discovered that Hughes planned an escape from the county jail, but owing to a tip given by another prisoner the attempt was frustrated.
