Portsmouth, OH, March 12.-AP-Lloyd Lockhart was finally landed in the penitentiary from which he had sought to release Pat McDermott.

Lockhart, 23, caused quite a situation some weeks ago when he told authorities he was the slayer of Don Mellett, Canton editor, and that McDermott, serving life for the crime, should be released. A feeling of sympathy for McDermott, who had attempted suicide that day, caused him to tell the falsehood, Lockhart said, and he was turned loose.

But a few hours later police picked him up on a pistol toting charge. Judge Russell K McCurdy, of Scioto-co common pleas court, today sentanced him to serve from one to three years in the big house where McDermott is a state guest.
