Article taken from The Constitutionalist, Elyria, Ohio, October 26, 1870

Mrs. Phillips of Portsmouth, Ohio, brought suit against Willis Calhoun, a retail liquor dealer, for two hundred and fifty dollars damages for selling her husband liquor, thus causing him to neglect his business, under the law of last winter holding the retailer liable for any damage that may be done by the person to whom liquor is sold, and a jury has just given her a verdict for $175.
