Suit Against Superintendent for $25,000
Article taken from THE PORTSMOUTH DAILY TIMES, June 30, 1926
William A. Voyzey, a former resident of this city, but now residing at Portsmouth. O., has instituted two suits through Attorneys E. G. Miller and Henry T. Bannon, in the first of which he is seeking a divorce from his wife Beatrice Voyzey and in the other he is demanding $25,000 damages from Lawrence G. Hayden, a former superintendent of the blooming mill of the Portsmouth Works. Wheeling Steel Corporation, for alleged alienation of affections.
It was stated today that Hayden left his position at the plant some days ago.
In his petition for divorce, Voyzey, who is a steel worker, charges infidelity and names Hayden as co-respondent while in his action for damages directed against Hayden, alleges that the latter on June 1st and on divers other days was intimate with the plaintiff's wife, Beatrice Voyzey, and that as a result the affections of the said wife has been alienated from him. Voyzey further complains that he has been deprived of the comfort, fellowship, society and services of his wife, that he has suffered great distress of body and mind and had been brought to great shame and dishonor to damage in the sum claimed.
The petition avers that the Voyzeys were married June 27, 1908 and have two daughters, 15 and 9 years old.
The Voyzeys are well known in this city having resided here for a number of years, the husband having been employed at the blooming mill of the Pittsburgh Steel Co. They left this city about 6 years ago Mr. Voyzey secured a position with the Wheeling Corporation.
