Charles Nichols Mistakenly Shot

Mistaken for Burglar
     Portsmouth, O., May 25.
    - Charles Nichols, postmaster at South Portsmouth, Ky., was shot and dangerously
    wounded
    by Ernest Stockham.  Nichols had gone to the Stockham home with a special
    delivery letter.  Young Stockham coming home at nightsaw Nichols and
    mistook him for a burglar.  The ever-ready Kentucky
     gun got in its work and now Stockham is terribly distressed over his rash
    deed.  Nichols' right thigh bone is broken.
