Aged Couple Robbed and Beaten Until Death of Both is Probable

Portsmouth, April 10.----Frank Lair and wife, both 76 years of age, were assaulted and robbed of three hundred dollars at their country home several miles east of this city Sunday night. The robber forced and entrance into the house and with a stick of stove wood knocked the aged couple on the head. secured the keys to an old bureau and rifled its contents.

Lair will die while his wife is in a precarious condition. Officials are on the hunt for the burglar.
