George H. Freshell of Portsmouth, proprietor of the Palace restaurant, during a delirium caused by a week's illness, attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat. 

Two hours afterward he made a second attempt by tearing loose the bandages reopening the wounds, and is now in a critical condition.
