Columbus, Sept. 15-From newsboy to millionaire is the record of J.W. Hopkins, of Portsmouth, who married a Columbus girl.
Hopkins was a newsboy at Portsmouth, leaving there when he was 16. With his small saving he purchased 480 acres of land at Geyser Springs in Nevada at $1 an acre. When one of the wells went dry he dug for gold. The other day he sold 80 acres for a million dollars.
