Two Boys Under Arrest

PORTSMOUTH, O., Aug. 8 - (AP) - Two youths accused of seriously
stabbing a third young man after disarming Sheriff Edgar Sullivan of Lewis-co,
Ky., were under arest in Greenup, Ky., today.
The Victim, John Osborn, 19, of Tygrart Creek, Ky., was taken to a Portsmouth
hospital, in a critical condition with a knife wound near his heart.
The accused pair, Walter Burke, 21, and Hobart Burke, 20, were arrested two
hours after the attack by Deputy Sherrif Bill Atkins of Greenup-co, aided
by William Ratcliff, 38, a railroad employee.
Ratcliff suffered powder burns
on his arm while wrestling a pistol from one of the youths.
Osborn was attacked at the conclusion of services yesterday at the Antioch
Baptist church on Tygart creek. Sheriff Sullivan who attempted to halt the
attack, said the Burkes took two pistols from him. When arrested the youths
refused to say where they had left these guns. No charges were filed, pending
the outcome fo Osborn's injuries.
