Portsmouth, O., March 9
Junior Bloomfield, 3, and his dog are dead, the victims, authorities believe, of a poisoner who sought to rid the neighborhood of stray animals.
Junior and his dog died within a half hour of each other.
A post mortem examination revealed that each had swallowed strychnine which apparently had been mixed with food intended for the dog.
The poisoner apparently has disappeared. He has been active in West Portsmouth, officers said.
The dog is believed to have dragged the poisoned food into the house and left part of it near the baby.
Junior was one of seven children, the son of Fred Bloomfield.
