Sheriff Slashed Trying to Arrest Meat Dealer

PORTSMOUTH, Oct. 24 -AP-Sheriff Al Bridell, of Scioto-co, was in a serious condition from loss of blood after being slashed with a butcher knife in the hands of William Myers, 65, a meat cutter. The sheriff had sought to arrest Myers because he had disobeyed court orders to cease molesting Mrs. Myers, deputy said. Meyers was felled by a deputy and placed in jail. Bridwell, former player of the New York Giants and the Cincinnati Reds, was cut on the left arm and right hand. An artery was severed.
