The Zanesville Times Recorder

The Zanesville Publishing Company announced yesterday the purchase of Radio
Station WNXT at Portsmouth, Ohio, subject to approval of the Federal Communications
Commission in Washington.
WNXT is the most powerful radio station in the Portsmouth area, broadcasting
at 1260 on the dial with 5,000 watts daytime power and 1,000 watts nightime
power.
"We were interested in increasing our holdings in the state of Ohio" said
Clay Litick, president of the Zanesville Publishing Company, "because there
is no other state which has more promise and we want to cast our future
with Ohio's progress."
"The Ohio River area has been on the move during the past decade," Litick
declared, " and for several years has been carrying more tonnage than the
Panamal Canal. Portsmouth has been part of this general growth pattern
and allows our company to consolidate its position in what, we feel to
be the state with promise in the country."
The Zanesville Publishing Company also owns WTAP-AM-TV, Parkersburg-Marietta,
and a majority interest in WHIZ-AM-FM-TV, in Zanesville. Late last year,
the Zanesville company sold a radio station it owned in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
