Portsmouth, O., (INS)

Subscribers of the Portsmouth Times received their news reports by radio today as strike by union printers continued to prevent publication of the newspaper.

Members of the International Typographical Union struck Saturday to support their demands for a wage increase of 18 cents an hour.

Executives of the paper said that members of the staff were preparing copy for a series of 15-minute news broadcasts over radio station WPAY, providing regular readers with survey of the day's news stories.

The printers, now receiving $1.25 an hour, originally asked an increase to $1.35, but increased their demand to $1.43, at the same time management offered to meet the first request, according to R. F. Fletcher, business manager of the Times.
