Honorable Daniel J. Ryan

The Hon. Daniel J. Ryan, of Portsmouth will be candidate for secretary of State, this fall. Mr. Ryan is one of the brightest of the younger Republicans of Ohio, and while he will not be given the nomination without a contest, he would certainly prove a strong head for the ticket.


Hon. Daniel J. Ryan, the gallant young Irish-American who heads the Republican state ticket, is a representive specimen of the possibilities of American life. Making his way through the public schools of Portsmouth, he has achieved success in everything he has undertaken-- weather at the bar or in public affairs. As a member of the legislature his good practical sense and his faithfulness were recognize by his selection as speaker pro tem of the house of representative, although he was one of its youngest members, and when he was in the chair everything went right. No know more about the public works of the state than he, he is thoroughly inform as to the state finances, he is a good lawyer and has testify as to his standings toward organized labor by his legislative record and his splendid little volume on "Arbitration."
