James W. Newman Dead

 Portsmouth, O., Jan. 2. - Mon. James W. Newman died at his home here. Several years ago he was one of the
most prominent Democrats in the state and was elected secretary of state in 1882, defeating Charles Townsend.
  In 1884 was in turn defeated by James S. Robinson of Kenton.
