Portsmouth, O., Nov. 22 -

The commissioners of Scioto County will call a meeting to investigate as to whether W. F. Whitney, clerk of common pleas court, has kept a cash book showing the amount of costs and fees collected by him in his official capacity, and as to whether he had held back any sum of such moneys.  Whitney has been the incumbent of the office for 16 years but will be succeeded next season by F. L. Sikes.  The inquiry is being urged by some of the people and the clerk is willing to have it proceed.
