Colley Graduates From Submarine Course

Navy Seaman Apprentice Ryan V. Colley, son of Becky and Victor Colley of Minford, recently graduated from the Basic Enlisted Submarine Course at Naval Submarine School is Groton, Conn.

During the six-week course, Colley learned the basic theory, construction and operation of nuclear-powered submarines. Colley also learned shipboard organization, damage control and submarine safety and escape procedures.

Colley participated in hands on training with reality simulators and practiced firefighting and flood control on board a submarine. Colley also learned about a submarine's basic hydraulic, water and air systems and practiced escaping from a simulated sinking submarine.

Colley is a 2002 graduate of Minford High School and joined the Navy in January 2003.
