Private Hutchinson was a member of Company E, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team.  He was killed in action while fighting the enemy near Sabghongjong-ni, North Korea on May 27, 1951.

Private Hutchinson was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously and the Combat Infantry Badge.
