A Sciotoville soldier killed in Italy, a Clay twp. soldier killed in France, and two wounded in France was today's reported war casualty toll for Scioto Co. in the present world conflict.

Pvt. Homer Clyde Castle, 20, of Sciotoville was killed June 14, according to a message from the war department.

Teddy Earl Bentley, 19, son of Mrs. Sylvan Bentley of Heuter Hollow near Eden Park, was killed in France according to a war department message received by the mother late Thursday.

Tech. Sgt. Ralph Hoskins, 24, or 1924 18th St., and Pfc. Howard M. Arthur, 1400 Spring St. were the soldiers listed as wounded in the invasion of France.

Pvt. Castle was an only son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Castle, 5728 Wilson Avenue.

Pvt. Castle was graduated from Minford High School with the Class of 1941.  He had been overseas more than ayear and took part in the African campaign.

After his enlistment he received his basic training at Ft. McClellan, Alabama.  He was transferred to other southern camps for training before going overseas for training before going overseas.
