2 From Scioto Among Wounded

Sgt. Veach, Pfc.  Murphy In Hospitals In England

Pfc. Jackson Murphy, wounded also in the invasion of France, has sent his purple heart medal home to his parents.  Mr. and Mrs. Jack Murphy of Swauger Valley.

The parents also received a letter explaining that Murphy is in an army hospital in England receiving treatment for a wound to the right hand.  He was serving with the infantry when wounded.

Murphy, a graduate of Minford High School entered the service Jan. 45, 1943, and was sent overseas in July 1943, He was stationed in England until June 6 when he landed with the invasion troops in France.

Mr. and Mrs. Murphy have another son, CPL. E. Lee Murphy, who is stationed at Quadacanal.  He wrote his parents recently telling them of meeting a former neighbor and friend.  Staff Sgt. Paul Bender, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bender, of Swauger Valley.
