Videos
This video series has been produced by Lakewood City
Schools in collaboration with sixteen other school districts to help
prepare students for the Ninth Grade Proficiency Test. The
series is not a quick fix. There is detailed instruction and
review in each.
Reading Series
Includes a classroom presentation covering major areas students
have repeatedly had difficulty with.
Writing Series
The tape includes a classroom presentation in which students
write
an expository essay from prewriting to a final draft. Essays are
read, reviewed, and graded using the state standard.
Citizenship Series
Includes detailed instruction, with an enormous number of visuals,
covering all seventeen learning outcomes. At the end of each of the
six categories there is a series of multiple choice and short answer
questions with answers.
Math Series
Includes detailed instructions, examples, and practice problems
for all sixteen of the learning outcomes. The series is accompanied
by a 31 page workbook that covers each of the learning outcomes with
a series of questions, review sheets over the facts. The workbook
is good by itself and excellent with the video.
Science Series
Is presented by "The Bernoulli Brothers" doing high interest
demonstrations. The series also includes a full length practice
test. The review problems and the practice test are in a workbook
that accompanies the tape.
