Geography bee

 


Minford Middle School held their 2007-08 Geography Bee on Thursday, December 20th.


Participants were chosen through their Social Studies classes by taking a written contest first.


Fourth and fifth grade students participated in the Jr. Geography Bee. Winner of this Bee was fourth grader Emily Brown and runner-up was fourth grader Nic Slack. Fourth Grade participates were Emily Brown, Mason Harris, Trey Kelley, Alex Powell, Ollie Rudmann, Nic Slack and Morgan Thornsberry. Fifth grade participates were Christopher Aeh, Andrew Beckett, Kenton Gullion, Samuel Lore, Garrett Nease, Mathew Parker, and Samantha McLaughlin.


Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grade students from Minford Middle School participated in the National Geographic Society Geography Bee. Winner was seventh grader Austin Bateman and runner-up Tyler Gains. Bateman will take a written exam to see if he advances to the state finals in Mansfield later this spring. Sixth grade contestants were Shania Fedele, Ethan Lawson, Christian Miller, Jordan Pennington, Abagale Ridout, and Kyle Wiseman. Seventh grade contestants were Austin Bateman, Trey Payton, Eli Duduit, Emily Joyce, and Brandon Muck and in the eighth grade Leda Daehler, Tyler Gains, Kevin Myers, Tyler Smith, and Nicholas Wise.
