This
year, I will be teaching fourth grade science.
The
Ohio Fourth Grade Standards require that the students learn
Earth
and space science. We will study weather and weathering.
Secondly,
we will study life science of plants.
Thirdly,
we will study physical science which includes physical and
chemical changes.
Lastly,
we will study the relationship between science and technology,
including problem solving.
In
all investigations, we will study scientific method, proper
investigations, and best scientific inquiry practices.
Each
nine weeks, a different extra credit assignment will be offered. The
assignment will be explained to the students, and they will
bring home a note for their parents giving them plenty of advanced
time to complete the project.
We
will do many hands-on labs and classwork so that science is
fun and educational at the same time.
I
do not, as a general rule, send home a lot of homework, because
we work hard at school. Homework will be saved for reading
and math.
Parents
are welcome to contact me with questions and concerns, or share
time and input in the classroom where you have expert knowledge.
I
am looking forward to a great year!
