Minfrod Middle School 2006
Renaissance
Festival
Seventh Grade Students at Minford Middle School traveled back in time to the late
1500’s when a Queen ruled and knights fought to save the land. Teachers and students worked on a whole grade
learning unit about the Renaissance Era for about two weeks in September and
October of this year. The students
started their unit with a trip to the Ohio Renaissance Festival in Harveysburg, Ohio on September 27th. While at the festival, the students learned
first hand what it would have been like to live in a Renaissance Town during the 16th
century. Once back in the classroom
students picked one topic from a list of many different people, events, and
careers from the Renaissance Times to study.
For one week students researched their topic and prepared their station
for our very own Minford Renaissance Festival. Our
students created a smaller version of a Renaissance Town based on what they learned over the
past ten days. Students from grades
third thru eighth visited the fair and learned first hand from their
schoolmates about life during Queen Elizabeth’s rule.
Our students were also entertained by Roger Jerome, as
Merlin. Mr. Jerome worked with twenty
students, which helped him perform in the Merlin and Arthur Show.
