Minford Middle School students had the opportunity to participate in one of the most exciting and rigorous math tournaments around—the Math 24 Competition. Lori Rolfe, Talented and Gifted Teacher and Jill McFadden, 8th grade Math Teacher, took twenty-two, 4th through 8th grade students, to Shawnee State University for the Math 24 Competition on Friday, December 14th. Object of the game is to make the number 24 from the four numbers on a game card. You can add, subtract, multiply and divide. Use all four numbers on the card, but use each number only once. You do not have to use all four operations. Each grade competed for grade level champions. The fourth and fifth grade champion competed for the single digit champion while the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade champion competed for the double digit champion.

Minford Middle School had 4 students advance to the finals to compete for their grade level champion. Amber Altman and Alex Powell advanced to the 4th grade finals. Kenton Gullion and Jacob Aeh advanced to the 5th grade finals. Kenton Gullion won the fourth and Fifth grade championship. He was presented with a trophy at the end of the competition. Congratulations and great job to all of the Minford students for representing Minford in the Math 24 Competition.
