Minford Middle School 5th Grade Talented and Gifted Students Test Local Waters.
Lori Rolfe, Minford Middle School Talented and Gifted Teacher, and Jacob Aeh, Randall Thacker, Connor Jacobs, Garret Nease, Laruen Wright, Mikhala Roe, and Hannah Heimbach, 5th grade TAG class have the exciting opportunity to participate in water and soil samplings with the Water and Soil Conservation District Representative, Jeff Montavon. Each month Mrs. Rolfe and seven 5th grade Gifted Students travel to the Scioto River. Once there the students take samples of the water and run several test checking for different levels of Nitrates, Nitrites, pH potential of Hydrogen, phosphates, and other things. Students keep track of each months results and discuss what changes have occurred and why. Students report results for record keeping purposes for Scioto County. This is an exciting opportunity for our students to learn outside of the classroom.
