1.    Cooking is applying Chemistry.  Students learn how different ingredients can affect a recipe when they are cooking.
2.    Students learn the value of washing hands when they have to opportunity to contaminate a growth medium in a petre dish and watch what happens in a few days.  Most students never have to be told again to wash their hands before cooking.
