Minford Local School District
Past and Present Leaders

E. O. McCowan, County Superintendent - 1925

Inscription in 1925 yearbook:

To Mr. McCowan, we wish to express our deepest thanks and appreciation for his influential work in helping secure for us this high school building which we are now using.  It is due to the expenditure of much of his time and energy that the people were brought to the realization of the need of a high school in this immediate vicinity.  We feel that the services Mr. McCowen has rendered this community in aiding in the construction of this educational institution are indeed very great.

One of the first mentions of a local person being placed in charge was the appointment of Edward Duncan as Supervising Principal of the school in 1937.  Terms such as Supervising Principal and Executive Head were utilized but the County Superintendent held the authority for administration of the districts.  The first administrator to be given the title, Superintendent, was William Phillis in 1966.  Prior to 1966, Edward Duncan and Edward Hall were titled as Executive Heads.
