Building Update

The new high school is starting to look like a real school building with brick
being laid in dark and light patterns.  Masonry walls are being laid for the
gym and more steel will be placed there.  Much of the roof has been placed
with the colored metal roofing still yet to be installed.

Wiring of the building continues as contractors install heating and cooling
ducts and provide pipe for the pumps.

Related to the building of the schools is the fact that the 1995 Permanent
Improvement Replacement Levy of 4 mills that was approved by voters will
be going off at the end of this year.  The Minford Board of Education
passed a resolution in 1997 that this Levy would not be submitted to the
voters in recognition of their approval of the new school building project
bond issue.  We want to, once again, thank our voters for their support over
the years.  Another event is that the current Bond Issue for the new
buildings HAS BEEN REDUCED!  David Green, Scioto County Auditor,
has informed us that the millage has been reduced due to the re-evaluation
of property.  This is to prevent collection of funds beyond what was stated
that our district needed in order to build the schools.  Even though property
taxes went up as a result of the re-evaluation, Minford School District will
not receive more funds for the project.

Currently, we are working on selecting loose equipment for the new high
school.  Such equipment will go into the classrooms, auditeria, labs,
offices, multimedia center, etc.  Chairs, desks, tables and cabinets are all
part of loose equipment.

The Middle/Primary project continues to be developed with utility lines
scheduled to be relocated after school is out.
