Building Update
from
Dr. Meade
April 1, 2000
The new high school continues to develop into an impressive
structure as the outer layer of brick is applied. Classroom windows
have been installed. These windows are tinted and will have built-in
blinds.
More of the walls
of the gym are up and the floor will be poured soon. Interior drywall and
other finishes are being scheduled as we move toward laying the flooring
and even begin to think about painting.
The road around the building
will be undercut and the soil mixed with lime to form a solid base for
the drive.
Roofing continues to be
placed.
The project is celebrating over
a year of construction without an accident. Gilbane sponsored a luncheon
for the construction crew to highlight safe work practices.
Loose equipment and furnishings
are next up for bid.
The Board will review and approve the design development
plans for the middle/primary project.
We are hoping to
be able to place a permanent stage in the high school gym area using project
funds. This will allow school-wide assemblies, community events and
other large activities to take place without crowding.
Also, we are looking at
a safe crossing area across Bond Road for our students who would walk to
sport practice at our facilities.
